Scientific Software (open source)
GNU R is a
programming language and software environment for statistical
computing and graphics.
Octave is a program for
performing numerical computations (which is mostly compatible
with MATLAB).
Maxima is a free
computer algebra system (like Maple but based on a 1982 version
of Macsyma).
QtiPlot
is a program to analyze and visualize data (similar to Origin).
JabRef
is an open source bibliography reference manager for
BibTeX-files (the standard
LaTeX bibliography format). journal_abbreviations1.txt
and journal_abbreviations2.txt
are additional textfiles I use to toggle journal abbreviations
with JabRef. You find the source of the abbreviations in the
first line of the text files.
More scientific software: The site DynamicalSystems.org
provides an extensive list of dynamical systems software (not
only open source software).
