The habitat fragmentation problem: Aspects related to animal foraging and diffusiveness

A random search theory based on the so called Levy flight hypothesis, namely, when a random search might be thought of as an optimization process, is presented. As an application, the context of searching in fragmented landscapes together with some of its subtle ecological aspects are addressed.
