Energy transfer in electron-Rydberg collisions (revisited): Substantial implications for recent ultracold plasmas

Hossein Sadeghpour
Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Cambridge, USA
In this talk, I profile extensive CTMC calculations of electron-impact induced transitions and ionization between highly-excited Rydberg states, where discrepancies with accepted rate constants are present. Such deviations, I will show, have dramatic consequences for the interpretation of recent ultracold plasmas, including a recent three-body recombination experiment.
