Conical intersections of periodic potentials

We investigate the effects of potential crossings of coupled periodic potentials in one dimension. We find the transformation that connects the wave functions in adjacent identical potential segments. For arbitrary boundary conditions, this transformation is not unitary and we relate its properties with the physical properties of the system. In addition, semiclassical calculations are performed. We analyze the regions of resonant transmittivity for energies below the potential barrier. We have also found that the reflectivity of the system is enhanced for some specific energies above the potential barrier.
