Electron recombination in dense environment

Carsten Müller
Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg
Free electrons can recombine with atomic ions by either radiative, dielectronic or three-body recombination. In this contribution we discuss variants of these fundamental processes which can occur in dense atomic, photonic and electronic environments. They comprise two-center dielectronic recombination, radiative recombination in the prescence of an intense laser field and three-body recombination with the QED vacuum.
