Superradiant J aggregates of dye molecules on surfaces

Moritz Sokolowski
Universität Bonn
Surfaces of single crystals provide ideal templates for the organization of dye molecules in non-bulk like long-range-ordered two dimensional structures. We report optical spectra recorded for different phases of the model molecule PTCDA. The spectra can be understood in relation with calculations of the respective exciton band structures. In addition, conclusions on the coherence from superradiance and line width broadening due to finite size effects are reported.
