Superfluorescence from helium gas following FEL excitation

James Harries
Japan Atomic Energy Agency, Hyogo
This work was carried out at the SCSS EUV-FEL test facility at SPring-8. Using 100 fs long pulses with a wavelength of 53.7 nm to excite the 1s1s to 1s3p transition we observed superfluorescence on the 1s3p to 1s2s transition at 501.6 nm. Details of the experiment and prospects for extension to shorter wavelengths will be presented, along with results from related experiments.
