Strong-field ionization calculations with linear, circular and elliptically polarized light

Anatoli Kheifets
Australian National University, Canberra

We developed a computationally efficient procedure of solving the time-dependent Schroedinger equation for field driven atomic and molecular systems with one and two active electrons. It allowed us to simulate multi-photon single and double ionization processes in strong electromagnetic field of arbitrary polarization (linear, circular or
elliptical). We have been able to model reliably several recent experiments on strong field atomic ionization and to make a critical impact on their interpretation. This includes the time-delay measurements with attosecond streaking, RABBIT and attoclock techniques. These experiments created significant controversies and opened a floodgate of theoretical publications.
