Nuclear spin selective control of rotating molecules

Monika Leibscher
Universität Hannover

Molecular rotation can be controlled with sequences of moderately intense, non-resonant laser-pulses. I will demonstrate that, by controlling the angular shape or the sense of rotation of a molecule, one can steer the outcome of reactive and non-reactive atom-diatom collisions. One application is selective control and separation of close chemical species, such as nuclear spin modifications.
