Synchrony and high frequency oscillations

We investigate the origin and potential role of synchrony and of high-frequency oscillations (gamma and high-gamma) by neurophysiological recordings in awake behaving monkeys and in human patients and by computational modeling. We find that oscillations observed as weighted average over large spatial scales (in particular in electrocorticographic recordings) may reflect synchronous activity in the underlying neuronal populations.
