The auxiliary field quantum Monte Carlo method introduces an integration
over auxiliary fields to separate the spin and isospin interactions
in the nuclear forces. Monte Carlo sampling of the auxiliary fields
effectively samples the spin-isospin degrees of freedom allowing a Monte
Carlo solution of the Schroedinger equation with spin-isospin potential
subject to a fixed-node-like constraint to alleviate the fermion sign
problem. The method is described. Results for some nuclei, neutron
droplets, and the pairing gap in neutron matter will be shown.
