| I will review recent observations of electronic liquid crystal states (V. Hinkov et al., Science 319, 597 (2008)) and phonon anomalies (M. Raichle et al., unpublished) in high temperature superconductors, as well as phonon anomalies in conventional elemental superconductors (P. Aynajian et al., Science 319, 1509 (2008)). Possible parallels between conventional and unconventional superconductors will be discussed. |
