The electronic structure of LaTiO3.4 was investigated mainly with angle-resolved photoemission. It turns out to be quasi-1D for the occupied bands near the Fermi level, EF. Comparison to LMTO band structure calculations gives generally good agreement. However, in an energy region about 0.1 eV wide below EF, strong loss of spectral weight is observed in photoemission without an apparent change in dispersion; possible explanations are discussed. Partial substitution of La by Ce does not have an effect at this energy scale.
