In this talk we present angle resolved photoemission study (ARPES) of the electron spectral function in single and double layer Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ, high temperature superconductors. Result as a function of doping, temperature, momentum and isotope substitution will be presented. Evidence of a strong correlation between the electron-lattice and electron-electron interaction will be presented and addressed in terms of a physical scenario where the physics of high Tc is put in a similar framework as Spin Peierls systems.
