P. Wölfle* and J. Kroha** * Universität Karlsruhe, ** Universität Bonn We consider Kondo inmpurity systems with multiple local orbitals, such as rare earth ions in a metallic host. We show that the multistructure of the local orbitals leads to Kondo satellite peaks above the Fermi energy EF and to "shadow peaks" below EF. We use slave boson mean field theory to calculate the Kondo peak positions, widths and heights in the local density of states. At finite temperatures not to far below the Kondo temperature we employ the Non-Crossing Approximation (NAC). The results are in good agreement with high resolution photoemission spectra for Ce compounds. |
