The origin of metal-insulator transitions (MIT) in early transition-metal oxides VO2, V2O3 and Ti2O3 has been long-standing dispute. In this talk, the mechanism of the MIT is discussed with finite size cluster models and photoemission and inverse-photoemission spectra expected from the theory will be presented. The details of structures and angle dependence of the spectra are discussed and comparisons will be made with experiments and other theories.
