Synchronous solutions and their stability in nonlocally coupled phase oscillators with propagation delays

Gautam Sethia

We study the existence and stability of synchronous solutions in a continuum field of nonlocally coupled phase oscillators with distance-dependent propagation delays. A comprehensive marginal stability curve in the space of the maximun time delay parameter (τm) and the non-locality parameter (κ) is presented. The curve is found to have a non-monotonic character with the stability region maximising at a certain value of τm and κ. The relative influence of these two factors on the stability characteristics are further delineated by examining the local and global coupling limits and comparing our results with some of the past simplified model calculations.
