Transport properties in Galloway Proctor flow


Magnetic fields in interstellar medium arise by dynamo mechanism due to intrinsic fluid flow. In a perfectly conducting case magnetic field lines are advected as fluid coherent structures. These structures stretch exponentially for chaotic flows and provide a mechanism for fast magnetic field expansion. We use two-dimensional time-dependent Galloway-Proctor model superimposed on spatial inhomogenius field to approximate back field reaction. The method of finite-time Lyapunov expoenents is used to calculate the hyperbolic structures of the flow
