Phase separation under slow cooling

Work on phase separation mostly concentrates on the isothermal and isobaric dynamics after a rapid quench into the coexistence regions of a fluid mixture. In contrast, in the natural environment (clouds, cooling in magma chambers) the parameters are slowly changing while phase separation proceeds. We will review a minimal theoretical framework allowing us to describe stationary demixing in this setting, as well as its instabilities due to convection and/or waves of precipitation.
