| The challenge of initializing high-resolution weather models and climate models is discussed. The emphasis will be on methods to deal with these problems. Potential methods are based on combinations of 4DVAR and particle filters, but not limited to those. Another problem is how to deal with observations in the assimilation system: should they be treated differently for weather and climate predictions? Finally, if time allows, some attention will be given to intelligent observation networks. |
