Approximation tasks in multilinear tensor formats such as matrix product states (TT format) or MCTDH (canonical format) are often addressed by an alternating optimization of the individual factors. The poster explains the main concepts to understand the local convergence behavior of such a method (in a stationary and discretized, i.e., finite-dimensional setting).
