Physics Verification Tests on a 3 Dimensional GPU-Driven PIC-Code (PIConGPU 3D)

We present the validation of the key physics features of PIConGPU according to known physical scenarios. For this, we show the evolution of position and energy errors for analytical known particle trajectories and numerical heating tests for many-particle systems such as warm plasmas. Furthermore, we present a new approximation within the boris-push step.

This allows for comparisons between established PIC codes like Illumination or PICLS with PIConGPU for selected physical test cases in laser-electron acceleration.
