Laser-plasma produced electrons and x-rays

Interaction of intense ultra-short pulse lasers with plasma can produce electrons with quasi-Maxwellian and quasi-monoenergetic energy distributions. These electrons can produce x-ray with different energies after interaction with a solid target. X-ray can also produced by direct interaction of the laser and plasma via different methods such as betatron, by scattering, or reflection (high harmonic generation). Ultra-short x-rays have many applications in study of fast processes.
