We investigate enhancement of absorption and acceleration of electrons and ions in the interaction of high-intensity, ultashort laser pulses with structured targets. It is shown that when the conditions for the resonant excitation of surface waves are met, the laser-plasma grating interaction becomes an efficient channel for collision less absorption, affecting the generation of fast electrons, as well as the subsequent ion acceleration from the front and the back of the target.
