We discuss a class of phase transitions which occur in liquid mixtures in simple liquids in electric field gradients. Electric fields can separate a mixture to its components or to nucleate a nonspherical gas bubble in liquids or vice versa. The dynamical process in AC fields is quite complex and is not well understood, as electromagnetic waves are decaying and nonuniform dissipation takes place.
