Using the quantum Monte Carlo method, we study the Kane-Mele model with an additional Hubbard interaction and obtain its phase diagram. The results suggest that the correlated quantum spin Hall phase is adiabatically connected to the corresponding noninteracting phase of the Kane-Mele model. At large values of the Hubbard repulsion, the topological phase undergoes a magnetic transition to a Mott insulator. A scaling analysis reveals that this transition falls into the 3D XY universality class.
