We present a theoretical description of the current through a double quantum dot driven by charge fluctuations at a quantum point contact placed nearby. We find that at a particular plateau-like energy dependence of the transmission t_ε of the quantum point contact the current onset is determined not by the energy conservation condition but by the width of the plateau in t_ε, which explains the experimentally observed features. We analyze qualitative dependence of the current on interactions and geometry and compare our findings with experimental data.
