Orbital reconstruction in oxide heterostructures

In this talk, I will focus on our recent theoretical and experimental work [1,2,3] which shows a major reconstruction of spin, orbital, and charge states at the interface between correlated oxides. The orbital degrees of freedom which are sensitive to the chemical and lattice environment at interfaces will be emphasized as a key factor driving novel electronic phases in oxide heterostructures.
