| I will report on recent theoretical developments concerning the interplay of the spin and orbital degree of freedom of electrons in two-dimensional semiconductor nanostructres. The proposed concepts and experiments rely crucially on the different effective contributions of spin-orbit coupling. In particular I will discuss the theoretical status of affairs pertaining to the spin-Hall effect. |
