Resonance energy transfer from ZnSe:Mn quantum dots to semiconductor cluster acceptors

Water-soluble Mn-doped ZnSe quantum dots with Mn ions located either in ZnSe core or ZnS shell have been prepared and electrostatically associated with ZnSe or CdSe clusters. We examined the resonance energy transfer from ZnSe:Mn quantum dots to semiconductor clusters when ZnSe excitonic emission band is in the resonance or off-resonance with the acceptor absorption. The spectroscopic data are discussed in frame of competition between different relaxation channels in complexes of doped semiconductor quantum dots and FRET acceptors.
