| When a solvent evaporates from a solution of nanoparticles or nanorods, complex transitory structures form over a wide range of time scales and length scales. Here, I will present a coarse-grained model of this dynamical self-assembly in 2D and 3D that accounts for spatial and temporal patterns observed in thin film experiments. In addition, I will discuss different scenarios that can be used to control the assembly process and direct the nanoparticles into predefined superstructures. |
