Photoionization dynamics in external fields

We presenst a quantum, semiclassical, and classical analysis of photoionization and -detachment in the presence of magnetic and electric fields. The adjustment of the field strengths allows to select specific catastrophes of the classical dynamics, which are prominently visible in the quantum results. The semiclassical description based on the path integral has to be modified in order to work reliable near the caustic surfaces. Experimental results are in excellent agreement with the theoretical calculation.
