Semi- and quasiclassical paths of laser induced ionization

Strong field phenomena such as Above Threshold ionization and high harmonic generation (HHG) are dominated by interference phenomena and therefore naturally suitable for a semiclassical description. We review briefly the description of HHG in a semiclassical initial state representation for the path integral and describe a simple man's approach aimed at an understanding of quite intricate electron dynamics under the combined action of an attosecond puls train and an infrared field. Time permitting the role of classical dynamics underlying triple photo ionization of lithium will also be addressed.
