The functional renormalization group approach has proven to be a very successful technique to study correlated mesocopic systems in equilibrium. Here we discuss an extension of the approach to the calculation of non-equilibrium properties. We will show that calculations for both stationary and time dependent situations are possible within a unified theory and present results for stationary transport properties. The limitations of the method and in particular of necessary additional approximations will be discussed and preliminary results for time dependent situations presented.
