The low energy scales of the Kondo lattice model are investigated by applying the dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) in combination with the numerical renormalization group. In contrast to the Hubbard model, which has only a single low energy scale - the Fermi liquid coherence scale - the Kondo lattice model exhibits two low energy scales. We illustrate how these scales are manifested in the optical, transport and spectroscopic properties of correlated metals and paramagnetic heavy fermions, with comparisons to recent experiments.
