In this tutorial talk I will present the basic ideas of quantum chemical correlation treatment and its application to solids. The incremental method developped for this purpose was successfully applied for a great variety of semiconductors and insulators and is applied in the present to metals. This method can be in principle also applied to impurities in solids, because it is based on a real space description. I will show an outline, how the incremental will be modified for impurities and show preliminary results.
