Over the last few years it became possible to design
complex quantum systems with an unprecedented
level of control.
The goal of this workshop/seminar
is to bring together leading experimentalists and
theorists working in the areas
of "quantum design"
to discuss in detail bottom-up approaches aimed
at understanding how complex novel phases and
correlation effects emerge.
Topics include
Quantum glue of unconventional orders
Quantum orders with multiple broken symmetries
Using dopants, pressure and magnetic field
to disentangle competing correlated phases
Nanoscale design of strongly correlated
materials
Topological order and fractionalization in
spin systems
Non-equilibrium physics in correlated
electron systems
Novel design ideas for unconventional
phases

welcome and should be made by using the application form on the event's
web page. The number of attendees is limited. The registration fee for the
event is 120 EUR and should be paid by all participants. Costs for
accommodation and meals will be covered by the Max Planck Institute for the
Physics of Complex Systems. Limited funding is available to partially cover
travel expenses. Please note that childcare is available
upon request.
Applications received by 20 April 2015 are considered preferentially.
