International workshop and seminar on

STATISTICAL MECHANICS OF SPACE-TIME CHAOS

Seminar: July 2 - 28, 2000
Workshop: July 12 - 16, 2000

Scientific coordinators:
Roberto Livi Antonio Politi
University of Florence National Institute of Applied Optics
Florence, Italy Florence, Italy

The meeting aims at bringing together researchers from nonlinear dynamics, statistical mechanics, and mathematical physics to exchange information on the numerical and theoretical tools used to characterize high-dimensional chaotic behaviour in view of a better understanding of out-of-equilibrium phenomena. Attention will be also devoted to the identification of suitable tools to extract useful information from feasible experiments.

During the seminar, young researchers will collaborate with experienced scientists possibly initiating joint research projects. The workshop will summarize the state of the art on the central themes of the seminar, providing hints for the research activity and useful information for all participants.
