A model of muscle contraction is reported. The model has two scales: (1) The scale of the individual actin-myosin molecular motors, which are modeled by a mechano-chemical stochastic process; (2) The scale larger than the size of a sarcomer described by coupled active nonlinear oscillators. Both scales are related by a mean field approach. The dynamics on the scale (2) is inferred from the stochastic model on the scale (1). The nonlinear dynamics of the chain of sarcomers is shown to present spontaneous oscillations and dissipative nonlinear waves. |
