From fluid flows to active lattices. How dissipation can be taken to advantage
to maintain solitons and some of its consequences

I plan to illustrate (theory, numerics, and experiments/video) how solitons and solitonic wave trains can be excited, as a form of selforganization, and steadily maintained in flows with dissipation (e.g. with heat and/or mass transfer). I also plan to discuss similar phenomena occurring in anharmonic lattices. In particular, for electrically conducting 1D anharmonic lattices I shall show how electrons could "surf" over the flow of (positive) ions. This electron "surfing" appears as the basis of a form of electric superconduction.
