We develop a microscopic theory for fractional Josephson effect in topological superconducting state realized in spin-orbit coupled semiconductor quantum wires coupled to strongly fluctuating superconductors. We examine possible experimental configurations and determine the conditions under which fractional Josephson effect can be observed, taking into account various complications such as degeneracy splitting and impurity scattering.
