Quantum phase transitions in the Kane-Mele Hubbard model

In this talk I will review our present understanding of the phase diagram of the Kane-Mele Hubbard model as obtained from quantum Monte Carlo simulations. Emphasis will be placed on the Mott transition between the semi-metal and antiferromagntic states [1] as well as on methods to detect topological insulators in the presence of correlations [2].
