International Symposium on
Strongly Interacting Systems: Past, Present and Future
A symposium in memory of Richard A. Ferrell

November 16 - 17, 2007

Scientific coordinators:
Peter Fulde (Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems, Dresden, Germany)
Pierre Hohenberg (New York University, New York, USA)
Richard E. Prange (University of Maryland, College Park, USA)

Organisation:
Katrin Lantsch (MPIPKS Dresden, Germany)

The symposium will focus on topics of current interest and incorporate issues connected to the work of Richard A. Ferrell. This particularly includes issues of scaling at phase transitions and problems, both experimental and theoretical, in such fields as superconductivity, superfluidity and correlated electron systems.

The meeting wants also to foster the exchange of ideas between experimentalists and theorists. Its broad scope will make it attractive also to young scientists who want to broaden their points of view.

List of distinguished participants who have already indicated their intention to attend the meeting:
Jay Bhattacharjee, Andrea Bianchi, Alan Bray, Volker Dohm, Michael Fisher, Shmuel Fishman, Reinhard Folk, Walter Goldburg, Joachim Keller, Alan Luther, Paul Martin, Akira Onuki, Yuri Ovchinnikov, John Quinn, Doug Scalapino, Hartwig Schmidt, Franz Schwabl, Jan Sengers, Joseph Sucher, Michael Tinkham, Gertrud Zwicknagl

Application forms can be filled in online on the symposium's webpage. The deadline for applications is September 15, 2007. The registration fee is 100 Euro. Costs for accommodation and meals will be covered by the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems. Please note that child care is available upon request.
