Dimerization patterns in kagome based Heisenberg models

We present extensive numerical DMRG and ED results focussing on emergent dimerization patterns in two prototypical kagome systems: i) The kagome strip introduced by Waldtmann et al PRB 2000 has a rich phase diagram including gapless and gapped dimerized phases with several distinct spatial patterns ii) We uncovered remarkable dimerization patterns hidden among the low energy singlet states of the 36 sites 2D kagome lattice. We interpret their structure and dynamics and discuss the implications for dimerization in the thermodynamic limit.
