Laser-plasma accelerators for ultrafast dynamics studies

The laser wakefield acceleration method can prouuce an extremely strong electric field of the order of ~100 GeV/m and an intense ultrashort (~10 fs) eletron-beam pulse. Hence, it may provide a new advanced electron accelerator with a table-top scale in the future. The ultrashort electron-beam pulses from the laser wakefield acceleration can be converted into fs X-ray pulses by several methods. In this talk, we present recent research activities on the laser wakefield acceleration research at APRI-GIST in Korea.
