Quenching dynamics and defect generation in a transverse XY chain

We study the defect and local entropy generation when a transverse XY chain is swept across the quantum critical point at a finite but uniform rate. We show that the defect density show identical scaling behaviour when either the interaction or the field is quenched. We also establish a slower decay of the density of defects with the characteristic time-scale of quenching when the system is swept across a multicritical point.
