| I start reviewing the properties of different vector types (bred, Lyapunov, singular) in systems with spatio-temporal chaos. The main part of the talk is devoted to compare different vectors when used as initial perturbations in a meteorological toy model. The behaviour of each vector type is analyzed by means of the so-called MVL diagram. Our results should serve as a guide to construct ensembles with the desired characteristics in ensemble prediction systems. |
