In the last few years there have been pieces of evidence that rain events can be considered analogous to other nonequilibrium relaxation processes in Nature such as earthquakes, solar flares and avalanches. In this work we study rain data from different sites to show that rain-event sizes, rain-events durations, and rain-event recurrence times (i.e., drought periods) are power-law distributed. The values of the corresponding scaling exponents for the different sites turn out to be very close to each other, suggesting a possible universal behavior for rain dynamics.
