Ultrashort xuv pulses or free electron lasers lead to an efficient population of the H2 doubly excited states, which, after a few femtoseconds, can decay by autoionization. This is a slow process that occurs in the same time scale as vibration and dissociation. Thus, the use of femtosecond radiation sources has been suggested as the ideal tool to investigate the complex decay dynamics of autoionizing states in this molecule. In this talk, the results of recent theoretical calculations will be used to propose different schemes to study this process with the available experimental tools.
