The non-Hermitian effective Hamiltonian approach is used to describe both three-photon ionization of atom and third harmonic generation by a probe laser radiation with a two-photon resonance to the intermediate state. In addition, a second laser induces a structure from the third state in the same continuum. The scheme is applied and calculations are performed for helium in the initial 1s2s singlet state with the intermediate 1s4s state and the laser-induced continuum structure from the 1s8s state. The features of the resonance cross sections are explained by the behavior of the effective Hamiltonian eigenvalues in the complex plane depending on laser parameters.
